Jury for TISDC
Thanks for the invitation from the Taiwan International Student Design Competition. Our creative director, Mann Lao, represent Macau as one of the judges in this Competition.
As part of the jury, Mann describe that he was honored to participate. “I am glad to be the judge of different competitions, which not only about the excellent works from the students, but also enables me to communicate and interact with other judges from different places. It was really a great experience participating as the jury. ”
In this competition, Mann was the judge on the category of digital animation. He was asked for the most impressive thing about this competition and he answered,“We had an intense and long discussion for the Grand Prix.
What we were discussing, was that which part of design should we grant as the most important unit? The expression, the social responsibility, the creativity, or the aesthetics? Obviously, the answer is social responsibility, what we are looking for is design that influence the society in a better way. The product design of Water Mask Dispenser won the Grand Prix as it could perfectly convey the value of the importance of social responsibility.
“Through the selection of this work, I knew that all the judges in the room have the same acknowledgment that social responsibility is a far more important condition to aesthetics. Besides creativity, designers should pay more attentions to the practicality of design. Design comes from living and should also be applied back to life.”said Mann.
